More comments from my students
Dear Nick,
Just a follow up email to let you know that as a
result of having a journalism qualification on my CV,
I got offered two jobs in the same week. The first was
working on a 'real' newspaper
which would have been a great learning opportunity
although the pay was really terrible; the second was
with a corporate communications
company, owned and run by an ex-journalist, that has
really big clients on its books. This was the job I accepted.
I will mostly be doing internal communication articles
such as newsletters, brochures, end of year reports
and adverts but it will involve all the interviewing
and writing techniques that I learned on the LSJ
course.
I start next week, and have been offered a salary that
is higher than I have ever previously earned!
(I am still continuing to write for the Amsterdam
Weekly in my spare time by the way, just because I
enjoy it so much, and they are about to publish my
fourth article).
So, thanks once again for all your help and have a
great Christmas.

Dear Nick,
I have good news - I've got a place on the Trinity Mirror scheme! I am
over the moon. They are sending six of us up to the training centre in
Newcastle for a sixteen week course. We'll also get a patch on a local
paper and then at end they try to place us on one of the Trinity Mirror
titles. So its looking very promising indeed!
Many thanks to you for all your advice and helping build my confidence
in my writing. Your advice really helped in guiding my preparation for
the interview. Trinity may ask you for a reference shortly, so I hope
that's ok.
I leave at the end of Jan, so I shall try and finish all the LSJ
assignments before I go.
Thanks again,
Mhairi
